School Tour en français
Walking tour of Dublin in french for TY and leaving cert students
Description du service
Dublin à pied is launching a new walking tour of Dublin in french for secondary school students, perfect for transition year and leaving cert students (15 - 18 years). This tour offers full immersion in the french language while exploring Dublin's must-see sights like Dublin Castle, Dubh Linn gardens and Christchurch Cathedral, along with plenty of anecdotes and less well-known stories: - Did you know that the Irish flag was a present given by a group of french women to Irish revolutionaries in 1848? - Why are so many words (e.g egg) similar in french (oeuf) and Irish (ubh) but so different in english? - How your guide offended his french mother-in-law by telling her that her omelette was perfect? - Why are all the wild hedgehogs in Ireland originally from France? All of that plus the Dublin à Pied quiz where one lucky pupil will win the official Dublin à Pied t-shirt! The standard tour lasts approx 90-100 minutes and includes a short break in the middle. Tours are available Monday to Friday with the start time of your choice between 9am and 2pm. One tour can accommodate between 20 and 35 students. The price is €15 per student (€12 per student until end of October 2024 using discount code: octobre24 ). You will receive a worksheet with key vocab to prepare with the students before your tour. Tour Meeting Point: Outside the Gutter Bookshop, Cow's Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin. Tour End Point: Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin.
